Best rumour I’ve heard all day frankly. WWE empire owner Vince McMahon knows a few things about money. Which definitely is useful in the game of football these days. Mike Ashley on the flip side is not a popular man up north. He has consistently turned the club into a yo-yo effect within the Premier League.
Indignity after indignity has been bestowed upon the Newcastle faithful under his regime, with the manager being handed a 7 year contract, seemingly because they are good mates. Joe Kinnear being handed a job as director of football, cancelling an almost done transfer on day one, proceeding to secure absolutely nobody of note during his tenure, selling off Yohan Cabaye for a mere 20 million to one of the richest clubs in the world and then resigning from the club for what we can only imagine is the self realisation of how poor he was at his job.
Newcastle since the transfer window now feel like they are in free fall. Our last four results are draw, loss, loss, loss. Our next three fixtures are Aston Villa, Hull and Fulham. Three games against clubs well below us in the league, that we should be taking almost 9 points from. In reality, it feels like we may only take 3 and be happy with that. If we continue in our current form it surely can’t be long before Pardew is sent packing. His negative style of football has turned quality players like Ben Arfa with super attacking flair into anonymous zombies on the pitch.
If the Vince McMahon rumour is true, I for one would be delighted to see Newcastle in new hands. Mike Ashleys tenure has been just as bad as previous regimes and has drags the clubs name through the mud consistently with bizarre decisions and the club left without key players for the end of two seasons. We probably have enough points to guarantee survival at this point. That seems to be enough for Mike Ashley, but the Newcastle fans don’t want to finish mid table, they don’t want to just accept survival. They want to be up there competing with the best teams, taking home trophy’s like the FA Cup and League Cup which the likes of Spurs, Portsmouth, Swansea, Birmingham and Liverpool have all enjoyed over recent years despite not quite being as good as the Man Utd’s, Chelsea, Arsenal and Man City’s of this world.
Newcastle deserves a trophy in some form. They will never achieve that with Pardew and Ashley. If Vince you happen to have clicked onto this quiet part of the internet. Buy the club, invest in the club and watch it flourish with a fanatical fanbase who just want to see the club doing the right things, making the right sounds and investing in the right players.
Do that and Newcastle United is an untapped goldmine.
