Saturday saw the Players Championship Round 4 in Clonmel Park Hotel, Clonmel, County Tipperary
As always i head down to these to try do my best and having been to 6 or 7 of these and had close calls i still havnt had a win, so i was heading down today with one goal. WIN ONE MATCH.
I got drawn against Tom Flattery and i set about my task, i suddenly was throwing the best darts id thrown in competition, i hit two 180’s and checked out 68,78 and 90 as i raced to 4-0. I saw the finishing line and got nervous. my quality dipped on doubles and i let him back to 4-2. I finally found the winning double in the next leg to take my first ever win 5-2.
i have to say Kudos to Michael o Sullivan who told me when i did win he’d be there to shake my hand, and he didnt disappoint, he even got a picture of us shaking hands after my win. Which was nice.
Unfortunately i couldnt replicate my scoring in my second match against Dave Brewster. At 2-1 i had a chance to level up and stay in the match, i didnt take my chance, he did and he blazed off into the distance with a 5-1 win. i was never out of any of the legs, always there or there abouts, just one treble or two more per leg and i was in with a great shout.
Dylan Rutledge lost 3-1 in the quarter finals of the youths, Mick Barry lost 5-4 in a top Board Final and Jacko Barry won his Board.
Jacko won 5-0 in his Quarter Final match to setup a Semi Final against my conquerer Dave Brewster. Jacko cruised it in not one of his better matches with a 6-1 win and William O Connor beat Shane o Connor 6-1 in a shock result.
Jacko and William O Connor had a cracker of a final where Jacko looked home and dry at 5-3 but Willy fought back to 5-5 to force a decider, in a tense final leg, Willy hit a 137 to leave 40 with Jacko on 106 he had to take it out to win.

Overall a long but quality day of Darts.
