Green Isle Hunger Strike…. Why?

Green Isle Hunger Strike…. Why?

So ive been reading up on the latest revelations about this hunger strike by the Union involved with the 3 Workers from Green Isle who were sacked.

They have been sacked for storing and sending on internally and externally 700 porn images. A good reason for a sacking if ive ever heard one.

The Union are not recognised by Green Isle Foods and as such they did not turn up for the Labour Court which ruled in favour of the Union but its entirely possible that it was only ruled in their favour due to Green Isle Foods not turning up on the day.

Green Isle are refusing to recognise that ruling, They say that the employee’s will not be returning under and circumstance yet we have guys on HUNGER STRIKE. How can men who have families to support and look after put themselves on Strike (affecting wages to their family’s)  and stop eating food (Affecting their health possibly leaving permanent damage to them if they go long enough, again affecting their families)

Im all for the concept of Unions and sticking by people when they are not in the wrong, but with the 700 images handed over to the Gardai today, it more and more with available information feels like these 3 guys have done wrong, but for some reason are getting the full backing of a Union and have members on hunger strike for no good reason.

If anyone can point out to me why anyone could have a case against being sacked for distributing porn within the workplace on work hours i would love to hear it, i would also love to know how the hell anyone can back up the clearly wrong doing of someone with a hunger strike, how can anyone believe THAT much in this cause.

I honestly hope this silly situation comes to an end soon, the guys that got sacked wont get a job anywhere now that this event got Tv and Radio coverage, they could have accepted their idiot status and moved on with life quietly and not sought references from Green Isle. Instead now they will be vilified in the public for distributing porn in the work place. Its not like it was 1 or 2 dirty images, its 700. SEVEN HUNDRED.

What do you have to do to not have the support of your union, surely there has to be a line, and surely there should be a limit on the actions of individuals in the action of a strike. If someone dies whilst on hunger strike, or suffers long term health damage, you will no doubt have a court find Green Isle liable in some manner, which is just disgraceful.
