Well i went down last night to the Balrothery Inn, near balbriggan for an Exhibition with #8 in the world ranking of professional darts, Adrian Lewis.
I had been sick all week and only was barely on the mend when i arrived down to play, i wasnt 100% but i still wanted my chance to play against Lewis.
Because i was sick i was switched to throwing first (incase i wanted to leave early due to illness) so once lewis had arrived and warmed up i was the first one up to the slaughter.
I was called up, got a nice round of applause, Lewis threw 3 practice darts, Treble 20, Treble 20, Treble 20 ( 180!!), as i went up to throw my 3 practice i said to him “Whats that muck” which he laughed at, i then went Treble 20, Treble 20, Treble 20 (180 !!!!), Lewis was surprised that i had followed his 180 with one of my own. Being the Consumate Pro Lewis Spotting back to back 180’s went in Treble 20, Treble 19, Double 12.
“A Perfect 9 Dart Leg” he turns around and says to me as i realise whats just happened, between us we’ve managed to complete a perfect game. Not quite intentionally to begin with as it was just practice darts, but all the same we had done a pretty impressive feat. (albeit 66% him), The announcer told the crowd that we had done a 9 darter between us.
Unfortunately our actual Game wasnt as all action as our practice, i solid scored 81’s and 60’s most of the way down, Lewis had a mix of 100’s and 60’s both of us being the first on was tough enough. I kept with him from 701 down to about 200, but i hit 2 41’s in a row whilst he hit a 137 and tookout whatever number he had left next throw. but i thoroughly enjoyed our little game.
Over the night Lewis hit numerous 180’s, took out 6 (Double 1, Double 1, Double 1) 130 (Double 20, Bullseye, Double 20) he hit Double 8 whilst walking across the oche. he took out 56 (Double 10, Double 8, Double 10)
It was an immense show from the man who is just so rediculously talented. I bought one of his Lewis on Tour Shirts, got him to sign it to me, and the lads made me get him sign it saying “We hit a perfect 9 dart leg” on the back too.
A Quality night, i would go to another exhibition with him if he came back. Excellent Stuff
