What a tournament tonight, i got knocked out early but marked some games of a very high standard over the rest of the night.
i lost 3-1 in the first round in what can only be described as the match where i threw THE best darts ive ever thrown and lost. It was unfortunate but i have only myself to blame, i threw huge scores and gave myself shots to win, i missed 11 darts at a double to go 2-1 up. I know what i need to improve so i’ll be working hard on it.
Martin O Connell came up (friend from boards.ie who is now playing with the White Harte Pub) lost to Colmchilles youth Dylan Rutledge, dylan was in vicious form and missed bull for a 167 for a 12 darter to win it.
Kian Barker beat Eamonn Rogan and then went out to Mick Mcgowan, Dylan was drawn the round after against Mick Mcgowan, he gave a good display but lost 3-0, would have taken more legs on a different day.
My dad won through his side of the draw to reach a semi final with Jacko Barry, who was delighted because this was the first time they had been in opposite semi finals and thus the potential for a Mick and Jacko final in a competition was on the cards for the first time.
Mick Barry and Mick Mcgowan was epic darts, 180’s and 140’s all over the gaff, Jacko cruised past my dad 3-0 despite my dad doing quite well in the first and third legs having shots at doubles. Jacko was just too clinical as only a former PDC professional can be. Another day maybe it could have been 2-2 with a leg decider.
Jacko Barry took the tournament 4-2 against his bother Mick, The final was nothing short of awesome, 140’s 180’s and 100’s consistantly, very high scoring final, jacko took out 125 (T20, 25, Tops) to win the final.
Great night, i marked the final, the semis and the quarters, wish i could have been playing in them tho, doubles let me down. so now to work on the doubles and see how i get on next time. Im meant to send off entry to the Tom Kirby, Irish Matchplay, but i might leave it and work on my game some more.
