Well tonight was a big match for ColmChilles B. Tonight we were to play the team that finished third in the league, With Chilles A team having knocked out the team who finished second (The Cock A) leaving only 2 big teams in the league, Micheal Collins and Walshes.
Walshes is the team of Liam Redden who is a dublin county player and players like Paul Wade, Brian Wade, Nigel Donners make it a very strong team.
First up was my dad Phil Cuffe versus Paul Wade. In the first leg Phil was much more consistent than Paul and had his shot at a double fairly quickly. In the second leg Paul wade upped his scoring and was well ahead and quickly hit his double. The final leg was a more even affair but Phil got down to a double before paul and out he went.
1-0 to Chilles
Next up was Kian Barker versus Nigel, Donners had beaten me 2-0 at the benny murphy but i really should have won that match only for poor finishing to be my achilles. Kian however suffered no such fate as he clinically took out his doubles having come down through the legs quite handily.
2-0 to Chilles
The third match was Dermot O Toole, im not sure of his opponent, it was one of the younger lads, around my age, but i wasnt sure of his name. Dermot won the first one after both players struggling on their doubles. His opponent took the second leg handily and it went down to the wire. It was pretty even down through the last leg but finally after some tense misses, Dermot hit his double.
3-0 to Chilles
I was up fourth and i was drawn to play Liam Redden, talk about a challenge. All the same in the first leg i came down solidly, 60’s and 81’s most of the way down but it wasnt enough as i got down to 100 Liam checked out next go.
In the second leg i upped my scoring again hitting some decent scores, my last 9 darts were 100, 81, 81, leaving me 52, but again liam took out his shot not giving me a shot at a double. Unfortunately play good isnt enough against county players, you need to play great, but i definitely showed i can keep up with a county player.
3-1 to Chilles
Up 5th was Willy Rielly, he scored well but couldnt hit his doubles and quickly lost 2-0, luck just wasnt on his side

at this point it was looking like it was going to go to 3-3 and thus go into a 1001 shootout, this would be a tough one to try win.
Up next was Danno, he has been playing some great darts recently and we needed him to step in and finish this game properly. Both players struggled with scoring on the way down but when they got down they both went from double to double till both were on Double 1. Danno missed it first time around but didnt second time around.
The next leg was more of the same as they came down through the leg. Both were close and his opponent was falling behind but then caught up quickly with a 140, Danno kept the head and got to double 16.
4-2 to Chilles
we had struck a major blow to the 6 a side cup with now 2 of Chilles teams in the semi finals, both should be the opposite side of the draw, should we come away next week with a result against Anto Caldwells men we could very well meet the A team in the final.
I dont think anyone looked at the 2 teams tonight and expected us to win, the same will be said of the match with Micheal Collins. But if we keep the head and play the kind of darts we did tonight, and hopefully have Aaron Lowndes back with us we could maybe set up the dream final.
